Where I Left My Heart

Hello from the foggy and windy city of San Francisco, CA! I'm here with 6 of my church buddies for a farewell roadtrip. It's been a fantastic 5 days so far, and I'm really going to miss these guys. We started off on Monday in LA, where we did the usual Beverly Hills/Getty sightseeing, and then headed up here to San Fran! We're staying in the Donatello Hotel right in downtown next to Union Square, and we've been able to walk to many of the places we want to see.

Yesterday, we went to Napa Valley, where we saw the majestic vineyards of worldwide fame and visited Berkley, mainly for Amoeba Records- a huge music store with lots of Vinyl. For dinner, we went to Sam Wo's, an insanely authentic Chinese food place. It's open 'till three in the morning, it's so small that for the food to get to the diners on the second floor from the ground-level kitchen, they use a dumbwaiter. The waitress was an elderly Chinese woman who had zero patience with the tipsy twenty-somethings who wouldn't wait for her food. They were not safe from her under-the-breath Chinese curses. Overall, it was an amazing meal, especially for just 10 dollars!

Today, I got an early start and visited my aunt and uncle who live here with their three young daughters. It was nice to catch up and see some relatives. Here I am pictured with Whitney, Phoebe, and Jim

Tomorrow we leave back for Phoenix through LA, and should arrive that night. Then I'll have all of Sunday for final preparations, and then I'm out on the road from Monday onwards!
