Hello Everyone!
I guess you guys don´t want pictures, since there was not a single comment on that last post. Your loss. Haha, just kidding. The reason this post does not have pictures is because of actual technical difficulties.
To be honest, the last 24 hours have been quite relaxed, and I am grateful for it. Last night I met my roommate, a teacher from South Korea who cooked his dinner in the hot water from the sink, and went for a nice long walk around the whole circumference of the town. It was nice, but hot, and I enjoyed the breeze once the reception unlocked our window.
One thing that was not so relaxing about last night was that I realized that due to a date-determining mishap, I did not have accommodation for tonight. I tried calling the hostel in Frankfort and in Weimar, but they did not pick up. So, I just hoped for the best today.
I tried Frankfort first, which was only about 2 and a half hours by train. There, I was told that there was no room for me. However, when I told them that I had mistakenly reserved a bed last night (which I did), they suddenly were able to move the reservation to today and suddenly there was room. I have no idea how that makes sense, but all I know is that I have a room in Frankfort tonight!
As I was in the lobby, I heard some people talking about nothing other than Scottsdale and its relation to Phoenix! I started talking to them, and it turned out that one of them was from Tucson. He left, though, and I ended up hanging out with a crack-team of three Americans (one from Ohio, one from Michigan, and one from W Virginia) and a girl from Sydney. We all went to a museum in Frankfort that had everything from classical art to modern photography and everything in between. It was nice, and refreshing to see something so diverse.
When we left the museum, we were all quite hungry, and eventually we found a streetside Bratwurst stand, where we filled up on cheap German cuisine. Then it was off to the grocery store and then to the Hostel, where we hung out and shared stories. Honestly, I have met the greatest people on this trip, something I will miss greatly when I return. Maybe the people at Columbia will be as diverse...
Well, tomorrow I leave for Berlin- definitely more to do there, so keep updated!
