Two blogs in a row! I'm on a rowl. haha. Sorry.
Anyways, I made it to Edinburgh! It's still as beautiful and cold as I remembered it to be. Man I love this city. The train ride was quite nice, it's so scenic! The Scottish countryside is one of the most beautiful I've ever encountered. I had a fine time listening to my iPod and reading up on the Universities I am going to be visiting. I got off, got on an innercity train, and made it to my hostel. It's really not that bad. I haven't seen my roommates yet, but there seems to be 10 of them, and they're not very tidy. I guess they're all out on the town.
After I dropped my stuff off, I took a 4 hour tour of Edinburgh, trying to use the bus system and looking for the University of Edinburgh campus using a Spanish map. hm. It was really interesting. Oh, and I encountered a guy from International Help something or other on the street. Here is my conversation with this dreadlocked Scot:
"Hey man! Where you from?"
"Phoenix"
"Oh! The US! Hey, tell P. Diddy hello for me, and remind him that I'm still on this corner. He owes me a lot of money, but not as much as 50 cent owes me!"
"Ok, I'll do that"
This went on for quite a while. It was quite interesting, but I left to go back on my way around Old Town. It was quite nice, and I had dinner at a little College place called the Elephant House. It was nice, and it reminded me of Bohemia Bagel in Prague. mmmm. So then I walked around for a while and hung out in parks and stuff. I have a student-led tour of the U of Edinburgh tomorrow. Exciting!
Oh, and before I forget- ultra British moment this morning: So I am in the elevator at the Tube going down, and the doors are closing, and they close on this young lady, and open again. Then this old many says to the other old man who was pressing the button to go down: "Stop pressing the button! You closed the doors on the young lady!" And the other one, in quite a huff because of the heat says "I didn't press the button to close the doors!" And they argued for a couple seconds more, both of them getting in a fluster. Then the button-pushing old man says to the young lady "Im sorry that you got pinched by the doors" to which she replies "no problem" and the button pushing man says to the other old man "I guess we all make mistakes" to which they both agreed. Then two seconds later, the button pushing old man then says "Unlike (some British person), she doesn't make any mistakes!" and thus, in less than a minute, these British people go from a quite angry argument to telling a joke and being all amiable to each other. I LOVE THE BRITS! haha it was funny. You had to be there and here the accents.
Well, that's all for now, I'm off to brave the streets of Edinburgh again!
