First of all, allow me to apologize for not updating for 8 days! Im sorry, but things have been CRAZY and I haven't had an open space of time with the internet in that time. So please begin to repair that broken heart of yours, dear reader. I know I am.
So much happened at camp that I simply do not have enough time to type everything up, but suffice to say that we changed many people's lives and it was a thoroughly intense but beautiful experience. Here are some highlights:
-Dancing to a prepared dance of "Say a little prayer" by Aretha Franklin
-Hiking up a gigantic mountain and surviving
-Having an egg fight
-4 of July with Czechs
-Doing the sound
-Bonding with Czechs and Americans alike
-Examining my language and culture under a microscope
-Seeing everything from a completely different perspective
-Teaching English
It was an amazing experience, and I think I am a better person and have changed if only a little bit because of it. I really want to go back next year, but it's too early to tell if I will. I love those Czech students and I really will miss them. They are beautiful people who really need to be loved and helped out. I will be glad to tell you all about it if you come up to me when I'm back and ask me to. It is simply too massive to type. Im sorry if that's frustrating for you.
Anyways, on Saturday morning we (the Americans and students) all boarded the train to Zlin, which is a small town where most of the Czechs live. When we got there we went to our home stays. Mine was with Nathan Nutter, someone from the team, at Kaja's house. He lives in this beautiful little quaint neighborhood made of two-story red brick houses. If you've seen Walace and Gromit, you've seen his neighborhood. He lives with his mom, who is the nicest person alive, even though she doesn't speak a single word of English. She did her best to make us comfortable, and she completed her job. It was lovely.
So, while we were in Zlin, we took a day trip to a cottage out in the countryside to have a BBQ and play games. It was really fun. Then after that we went to some sports bars and watched the final game of the world cup, which was really exciting. I was rooting for Italy, while all the Czechs rooted for France. It was quite a good game.
The next day we took a train to a city called Brno, which is the second largest in Czech. There we went to the Zoo, which was good, except the polar bear was in really hot weather in water as brown as mud. Then we went on a boat trip on a lake, and passed by a nude beach. It was HILARIOUS because the Czech leader didn't know it was on the trip and freaked out. haha.
That night we went to our going away party, which was very sad, but I had a good time. I really will miss those Czechs.
So, yesterday we took a 5 hour train ride back to Prague, ate dinner there, and slept in the same hotel as last time- Hotel Krysal. It was BOILING and there wasn't any AC. It is so hot here in Prague, I am permanently moist with sweat. Oh well, it's still quite enjoyable. Today I've been wandering about Prague and shopping, not buying anything. I think I'm going to get a professional soccer jersey as my souvenir from Czech.
Well, that's what's been going on, I hope all is well with you guys. I'll update again in a couple days from Germany where Im staying the weekend to talk in more detail. Comment please!

Hi Derek,
I got your postcard from Tanger the other day, thank you so much. I think you are the only teenager in the world who takes time to send postcards on their vacation and I really appreciate it!
I love reading your posts, and a lot of stories remind me of my own first weeks in Arizona, where I had similar culture shocks, just the other way around.
I hope we can talk on the phone/skype while you are staying with my parents.
Post some more pictures when you get a chance, too. I can't wait to see some of them.
Happy trails,
Claudia
Hey Derek!
It's wonderful you were able to help so many people! You will have to tell me all about it when I see you again.
I can relate to your hot weather situation. I have a horse show this saturday and its going to be 105 out. I'll be riding most of the day and the only shade will be for the horses.
I know you'll have a fabulous time in Germany and the U.K.
I miss you alot and am looking forward to hearing great stories and seeing lots of pictures!
May the rest of your hotels be above two stars,
Katrina
